Every year, the African American Real Estate Professionals of DC present awards honoring industry professionals for their outstanding dedication and efforts in the Washington DC Metro commercial real estate community.

This year, we are proud to present the following categories:

Best Deal of the Year Award

The purpose of the Best Deal of the Year award is to recognize an African-American individual or team members who had significant involvement in closing or restructuring a noteworthy real estate transaction in 2009. The recipient's role was either the principal broker, agent, financial advisor, legal advisor, or owner on a major deal involving the acquisition, development, renovation, sale, lease, or refinance of real estate.

Nominees for this award category may be AAREP members and non-members, and a nominee may be an individual or an organization.

Economic Development Award

The purpose of Economic Development award is to recognize a recipient who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the economic development of predominantly African-American communities, thereby creating opportunities for real estate professionals who serve them. The recipient actively pursues economic development which is spurring investment and rehabilitation, creating jobs and opportunities, and transforming deserving communities.

Nominees for this award category may be AAREP members and non-members, and a nominee may be an individual or an organization.

Innovation in Green/Sustainable Projects Award

The purpose of the Innovation in Green award is to recognize a person, organization, or company that signifies vision, leadership, and commitment to the creation of green building design and/or construction. The recipient is an African-American individual, organization or team member who had a significant role in the design, construction, management or subsequent maintenance of LEED-certified or higher project.

Nominees for this award category may be AAREP members and non-members, and a nominee may be an individual or an organization.

Member of the Year Award

Member Award Categories:
Only AAREP Members can be nominated for this award, excluding AAREP's current year President or Vice-President.

The purpose of the Member of the Year award is to recognize a recipient who, during the 2009-2010 program year, provided outstanding service to the AAREP organization as an active member. The recipient participated in programs, was an active member on one or more committees, and has graciously accepted responsibilities to advance the goals and objectives of AAREP-DC. This individual has shown leadership ability through building consensus, resolving issues, and leading the team to success.
