Caryn M. Bailey
President, AAREP DC
Caryn Bailey is strategic partner for business development, with OPX, a Design Solutions Company SM, pioneering an innovative holistic design approach to global challenges. OPX is a globally powerful brand that creates a new value proposition in the marketplace, which eliminates its competition and makes good companies work better. Recent clients include the following: AARP, BAE Systems, Boston Properties, Northrop Grumman, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, RLJ Companies, and Watson Wyatt Worldwide.
Through founding a firm, along with her partner, Caryn is a principal with the Cornerstone Heritage Group, LLC, a business development, public relations, and ADA consulting firm representing small, mid-size, and large-scale clients in the commercial real estate industry, private and public sectors.
Caryn began her career in the public sector and has always had a passion for building relationships, finding resources for organizations and companies to be more financially viable, and growing organizations and companies' bottom line. Prior to migrating to the DC Metro area, Caryn was Grants and Special Projects Manager for the Ohio University Telecommunications Center and Assistant Director for the Office of Multicultural Programs and Lindley Cultural Center at Ohio University. It was natural when making her transition to the Washington, D.C., metro area to take on a fund-raising role with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). This position involved fund raising, corporate relations, and professional development for NSBE student leaders.
Caryn's exceptional ability to build relationships in both public and private sectors eventually took her to Group Goetz Architects in Washington, D.C., where she was the director of business development. This position provided her with the opportunity to generate revenue for the firm, while building meaningful business relationships in the commercial real estate industry. Caryn remains very grateful to the opportunities afforded her through this firm.
Being the multi-faceted, high-energy, multi-tasking individual that she is, Caryn is involved and holds leadership positions in myriad organizations such as: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Zeta Omega Chapter; American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); Commercial Real Estate Women, Washington, D.C. Chapter (CREW DC) (Special Events Committee and was Nominated for the 2007 Board of Directors, Director of Membership); CoreNet; D.C. Real Estate Group, Greater Washington Board of Trade (Ambassador, Membership and Regional Development Task Force Committees); International Facilities Management Association (Programs Committee); International Council for Shopping Centers; National Association of Female Executives, Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va., (Property Assessment Committee); Women in Technology.
Caryn currently serves as President for the African American Real Estate Professionals (AAREP), for the 2007-2008 Program Year. In March 2005, she was the first person to be nominated and chair the fundraising (now sponsorship) committee for AAREP. Caryn's hard work has not gone unnoticed. In May 2006, she was the recipient of the Member of the Year Award from the African American Real Estate Professionals.
Caryn is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Sociology. She has significant experience in leadership, developing corporate relations, building significant business relationships, and implementing successful business development and public relations programs.
